New Mothers Union
Diocesan President Commissioned
Many MU members from around the diocese and beyond, together with clergy and diocesan officers, gathered in Ely Cathedral on 13th March. The occasion was the commissioning by the Bishop of Huntingdon, the Rt Revd John Flack, of the new Diocesan MU President, Beryl Waterson, Trustees and other diocesan and branch MU officers.
Bishop John, who is also Worldwide Chaplain to the Mothers Union, said in his address, that Beryl had been commissioned to encourage MU members to be part of the Church's mission to the world. With so much threatening marriage at this time, there is a great need for the MU and its support for marriage and family life. The MU is a worldwide family which by prayer and worship supports, and the universal MU prayer asks for Gods presence, peace and love in members home wherever they may be.

Bishop John reminded members that they are called to be disciples of Christ, and that the inclusion of the Eucharist, which in itself is a commissioning, in this service, would unite them all in this mission.
At the end of the service, the branch banners led a colourful procession proclaiming the Mothers Union presence in parishes throughout the Diocese.
