Female Clergy

Women were first ordained priest in the Diocese of Ely in May 1994. In 2004, the tenth anniversary was marked by a special service in Ely Cathedral.

In January 1996 there are nearly 40 ordained women working in the Diocese as follows:

15	Full time Incumbents, priests in charge and Team vicars
5	Full time Assistant Clergy (2 deacons)
6	Full time Chaplains
3	Part time Chaplains
1	NSM Incumbent
7	NSM assistants/chaplains
1	Permission to officiate

Total of 38 ordained women: 26 in full time Stipendiary ministry; 3 in part time; and 9 non-stipendiary.
