Children’s Work Adviser

I have been the Children's Work Adviser for the Diocese of Ely since 1986. I work with members of the Diocesan Children's Council to provide support and advice to everyone engaged in work with children, which is promoted by the churches in the diocese. I am also responsible for providing child protection training in the diocese.

I began my working life as a primary school teacher, but I believe the most important experience I bring to this work is probably that of being a parent. My children are now grown up, but I learnt a great deal from them when they were children. I was born and brought up in West Yorkshire, and I also lived for a while in the North East of England. Within the diocese I have lived in Fenland and Ely and now live in Cambridge, so I know the diocese well, in all its diversity.
