David Waters is a Church Army Evangelist and has worked for the Diocese of Ely since 1994. During this time he has served as parish evangelist in Soham and as a deanery evangelist with a large schools ministry in the Yaxley deanery.. He has been involved in leading Christian youth and childrens ministry for over twenty-five years.
Since November 2000, David has worked with many churches in the setting up of new youth groups or youth projects. He encourages churches to always include some form of Christian input during the meetings and, whilst he accepts the need to continue links with secular youth agencies and community youth clubs, his main calling is encouraging young people to share and live out their Christian faith with their peers.
The Youth Council, of which David is the executive officer, has changed over recent years. Its main focus is now towards providing good quality youth events, training and support for the churches of the diocese wishing to engage in new youth projects. The Youth Council's most popular events being the hugely successful 'Rave in the Nave', 'Monopoly - Live', Theme Park/ Soul Survivor visits and 'Toolkit' - the diocesan training days for youth leaders. 80% of the Council's work, budget - and David's ministry is now spent at 'grass roots' level in our parishes.
David is always willing to visit any church, PCC, or deanery synod that wishes to reflect on their youth outreach or secondary school contact. His e-mail is david.waters@ely.anglican.org. His telephone number is 07815 899545.
