A Church School Checklist

Right click on the icon and select "Save Target As..." to download a school self-evaluation checklist on the distinctive areas of Church School life - ethos, spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, RE, collective worship and church / school links.

It is a relatively simple (if lengthy) document, but it is important that whoever fills this in constantly thinks of the evidence there is available to show these varying aspects of school life are in place. Ideally this should be the role of a joint staff / governor working group. Correctly filled out this document should contribute to the School Development Plan and be a useful reminder of priorities when a Section 23 Inspection is in the offing. It would be an interesting exercise to offer the same checklist to different members of the school community - a new member of staff, a foundation governor, a parent - and assess whether the aims of the school as perceived by the Headteacher and Foundation Governors are recognised and celebrated by other stakeholders. Like all such documents, the process is more important than the completion of the chart.
