CME

A Pilgrimage to the Holy Lands
with the Ministry & Adult Learning Team
4th-13th Feb 2004.

Cost approx £1200. - You may start saving with us now.

Geoff Catchpole travelled with McCabe to train as tour leader last June. Here he gives some impressions of what you might expect.

Thursday 5th Mount of Olives and Mount Zion. The dome of the Ascension and Pater Noster Church. The view of the old city and the deep valleys which dissect modern Jerusalem are extraordinary. In the afternoon, we visit St Peter in Gallicantu. Here I stood in the recently unearthed prison caves under the High Priest Caiaphas’ house. This is almost certainly where Jesus spent some of his last hours.

Friday an optional day tour to Masada Qumran and the Dead Sea. Or a quiet day exploring the souks across the road from the Pilgrim Palace Hotel. “Swimming” in the Dead Sea is fun but not pleasant. Masada is an extraordinary rock fortress built by Herod the Great.

Saturday Bethlehem. I was unable to go to Bethlehem due to the troubles. We hope to share Holy Communion in the Shepherds’ Fields. In the afternoon we go to Ein Karem the home of John the Baptist, finishing the day at the deeply moving Holocaust Memorial, Yad Vashem.

Before breakfast on Sunday some may visit the many liturgies from East West and South happening in the church of the Holy Sepulchre, one of the sites of the crucifixion and burial of Jesus. We will join a local congregation for their morning worship and share their hospitality or find our own lunch in the city. In the afternoon we visit the children’s home at Bethany, a moving, very modern, Christian witness in the West Bank. We walk home along the Palm Sunday route.

Monday is our last day in Jerusalem and we visit the western wall and ascend the Temple Mount finishing for a time of prayer by the pools of Bethsaida. In the afternoon we follow the Via Dolorosa through the very narrow, busy shopping lanes of the Old City. We finish the day in the quiet luxuriant English gardens of the garden tomb by Golgotha. Optional shopping trip in the evening.

Tuesday (by coach) Emmaus, Caesarea Maritima (we will need volunteers to sing & perform in the amphitheatre), Mount Carmel, Armageddon, the Jezreel Valley and Tiberias.

Wednesday and Thursday are spent in the quieter lands around Galilee visiting Nazareth (the caves of the first century homes are not as enchanting as most Sunday School images) and Mt Tabor (transfiguration) I found the synagogues at Nazareth, Qumran and Capernaum brought me very close to a sense of being in the actual places where Jesus learnt and taught. However, I was also moved when a gale blew up as we sailed and fished on the Sea of Galilee. Communion on the lakeside at the church of the loaves and fishes is equally unforgettable.

My brief introductory trip has been a spiritual firework for me and proved the source of many sermon illustrations; nine months later our congregation are still asking to see more photographs.

If you register an interest I will invite you to a taster evening. We are advertising this well in advance to allow people time to prepare for the cost.

Schools Plus

Church Schools Headteachers Conference - Tuesday 28th May

“Curriculum is one half of the education process, the other half is the people concerned in that process. To reduce the educational discussion to ‘curriculum’ is not only to strain the language. It means that certain aspects of education are missing.” Jack Priestly

This year the Church Schools Headteachers Conference takes the form of a major training opportunity on the theme of: “Wholeness or Holeness – Caring for the Spiritual Health of the School”.

The Conference will give headteachers a chance to step out of the busyness of everyday activity and to reflect together on the bigger picture. This conference is essentially about the role of teachers, and in particular headteachers, in the education of the whole person and the ways in which this role necessitates the care of their own spiritual health.

The Conference is being facilitated by Brother Patrick Moore and Alison Seaman. They write: “It has long been the vision of teachers that education should be a holistic experience.

Ofsted and Section 23 reports indicate that the vision and inspiration of the headteacher is paramount in ensuring the nurture of the spiritual dimension in the life of a successful school. In Church schools, headteachers are spiritual and academic leaders of the school community. In The Way ahead, the Archbishops’ Council’s Review of Church Schools, this role is identified as a form of lay ministry which is complementary to the Church’s ordained ministry.

This day conference provides the opportunity:

The cost of the Conference, including lunch, is £25 per person. Headteachers may register by e-mail.

Trips! Trips! Trips!

Summer is the term for RE Trips and this year we are offering two different Saturday INSET opportunities for teachers, friends and family and interested readers of these pages.

25th May - A Day at Cambridge Buddhist Centre
You will have the opportunity to learn all about the centre and its work, spend time in the shrine room and speak with local Buddhists. In the afternoon an educational expert will offer a session on meditation for teavchers. For those who find Cambridge parking a difficult prospect, a minibus will run from Ely. Total cost of day £20.

15th JuneShopping for RE Artefacts in Sparkhill, Birmingham
This is an excellent opportunity to visit the Indian shopping area in Sparkhill and stock up on Hindu, Muslim and Sikh artefacts (not to mention eating a balti and buying saris!).

There is a wonderful shop in Sparkhill called Gohill’s Emporium which is patronised by all the local teacher training colleges for buying RE artefacts – so we know it is one of the best places nationally to shop! This is a “share the cost of the coach” trip, so we are asking for a deposit of £10 if you wish to register, after which, the more people come the cheaper the final individual total gets!

For both trips send the appropriate cheque (“Ely Diocesan Board of Education & Training”) to Shirley Hall, Bishop Woodford House, Barton Road, Ely, Cambs CB7 4DX . 01353 652712

RE Liaison Groups

This term most of the RE Groups are looking at Teaching Islam – a topic which was requested by teachers who wished to think through the issues raised by the events of September 11th in relation to Muslim belief and practice.

Some of the groups will be looking at a booklet on God, which covers a wide variety of ideas for teaching about God in the six major religions covered by the Agreed Syllabus (or five and Buddhism, as Buddhism is non-theistic). The materials from this latter booklet will also soon be on the Diocesan Board of Education & Training website at www.ely.anglican.org/education in the Schools section. This term’s meetings are:

Wednesday 8th May - St Luke’s School, Cambridge – Islam
Thursday 23rd May - Farcet School – Teaching about God
Thursday 30th May - Bishop Woodford House, Ely – Teaching about God
Tuesday 11th June - Westwood School, March – Teaching about God
Wednesday 12th June - Linton Infants School – Teaching about God
Tuesday 18th June - Great Paxton School – Islam
Wednesday 19th June - Barrington School – Islam
Wednesday 26th June - St Peter’s School, Wisbech – Islam
Thursday 27th June - Wormegay School, West Norfolk - Islam

Meetings are free and are open to colleagues from both church and community schools. Sessions start at 4.15pm and last for approximately an hour.
The Diocesan RE Lending Collection is available for borrowing and browsing from 3.45pm onwards. Teachers requiring resources on particular topics are invited to contact the Resources Centre, 01353 652725 a few days in advance of the meeting to ensure that the right stock is brought to the session.

New Church School Property Manager Service

With the news that Cambridgeshire LEA will no longer be offering an in-house property management service from 31st March 2002, a Diocesan Property Management Service for Aided Schools in Cambridgeshire has been inaugurated by Cath Conlon, our Schools Buildings and Finance Officer, in partnership with Peter Smith Associates.

We believe that our knowledge of the Aided Schools of the Diocese, and the years of experience in dealing with the particularities of the Aided funding system, will make this an efficient and competitive “one stop shop” for schools.
In the light of the setting up of the new property manager service, this autumn we hope to see a review of the whole Aided Schools Building Service offering two subscription levels:

This will include changes to the system whereby schools apply for grants (or loans) from the Board towards their governors’ liabilities for building work.

Aided Schools will already have received full details of the proposals and changes from Cath Conlon, who would also welcome any comments and suggestions on the revision of the Buildings Scheme 01353 612722.

Concerned about the Environment? Have you thought about becoming an Eco School? Never heard of it? Eco Schools is a European wide initiative funded in the UK by central government.
So it is free to all schools.

How does it work?
Eco School Action is targeted on 7 key areas: Litter, Waste, Energy, Water, Transport, Healthy living and School grounds.

An Eco Schools committee is formed to involve pupils (essential), staff, parents and wider community. It is up to this Eco Committee to drive Eco Schools in their school. For smaller schools this can combine with the Schools Council.

  1. A school environmental review is carried out to give a clear understanding of environmental impacts and to help prioritise action.
  2. An action plan is produced.
  3. An Eco-Code is produced and work is started.
  4. Action and progress are monitored, evaluated and publicised.
  5. Eco Schools activities are linked into the curriculum.
  6. Whole school and wider community involvement is sought.
  7. An application is made for the Bronze Award, Silver Award or Green Flag.
  8. The whole process is cyclical to keep everything vibrant.

Want to Know More?
Help, support and encouragement is available from the Eco Schools Web sites (European-wide site: http://www.eco-schools.org/
UK site: http://www.eco-schools.org.uk or Shirley Hall or Nigel Tuffnell (Ely Diocesan Environmental Advisor). More details about a special Ely Diocesan Board of Education & Training Eco-Schools Initiative will be reaching you soon!

Governor Training

This academic year we are offering sessions on governing Church Schools as part of the Cambridgeshire County Governor Training Network. There are two sessions looking at school ethos, which will take place in the Summer Term:

The Heart of the Matter – Ethos Health Checks for Church Schools

Tuesday 14th May at St Mary’s School, St Neots (code DIN3) and Monday 17th June at All Saints School, March (code DIN4). Both sessions begin at 7pm and last for two hours.

Governors from Cambridgeshire schools who wish to book on any of the courses above should contact: email: governor.training@education.camcnty.gov.uk or 01223 717288. Governors from Peterborough or Norfolk should contact Sarah Sheffield at the Diocesan Office 01353 652724.

Cathedral Days for Church and Community Schools

This October there are four major Cathedral Activity Days on offer for primary schools. The days are on the theme of “Famous People” and will concentrate on people linked to the life of Ely Cathedral and local Christianity. (This will fit in to the People element of the RE Agreed Syllabus.) The morning will consist of stories, craft and trails and the afternoon will be an act of worship in which pupils will be able to take a significant part. There will also be an opportunity to meet and talk with a locally famous person!

The Church Schools Days (8th & 9th October) are fully booked already, but contact Shirley Hall on 01353 652712 for last minute availability of places.

Bookings for the Community School events (15th & 16th October) will open shortly, contact Jan Munt at the Cathedral Centre for more details 01353 659668.

Investors in People

The Ely Diocesan Board of Education and Training was in March 2002 the first diocesan board of education to be recognised as an Investor in People.

Canon John Hall, General Secretary of the Archbishop’s Council Board of Education who was speaking at at the Diocesan Synod, formally presented the ‘plaque’ of recognition. ‘Investors’ is a national scheme that challenges organisations and businesses to make the development of their ethos and their people a top priority. Several Church Schools in the Diocese have already been recognised and others are working towards it.

The process has involved all those who contribute regularly and directly to the Board’s work, staff and volunteers, nearly 80 people.

“The project has sharpened our focus, our planning and people’s sense of direction and belonging,” reported the Director, Canon Tim Elbourne “The achievement of the Standard sends a positive signal of our professionalism to the diocese and our many partner organisations. The Assessment Report speaks of “a consistent sense of commitment to achieving shared aims”, that staff effectiveness had improved and that people felt themselves “supported in making their individual contributions to the work”. The process, which is a continuing one, has affirmed our Christian vocation to learn and develop together. I commend it to others in the diocese and beyond.”

“The Challenge of a Lifetime”

In his speech to the Diocesan Synod on 24th March, Canon John Hall, General Secretary of the Archbishop’s Council Board of Education, spoke of the development of the distinctiveness for church schools and the need for the church to support and encourage vocations to and in the teaching profession. A 30 minute video “The Challenge of a Lifetime” which explores these themes in the light of the recent Dearing report on church schools, ‘The Way ahead’ is available to borrow from the Resources Centre. It would be especially helpful to governing bodies and PCCs.

At the end of it’s debate, the Diocesan Synod passed this resolution without dissent: “This Synod re-affirms the resolution of the Diocesan Synod of 10th March 2001 that church schools stand at the centre of the church’s mission and ministry in this Diocese and in particular continues to urge PCCs and deaneries to further strengthen their links with all local schools. It affirms especially the ministry of teachers and its commitment to the nurture and the strengthening of vocations to the teaching profession, and urges diocesan strategy to reflect this commitment.”

Working with Children

Launch into Roots

11th June at 7.30 pm
Diocesan Office, Barton Road, Ely

Roots will be a new and comprehensive resource for working with children and young people in the church and for all age worship. It will provide material to explore the Lectionary passages and the quarterly magazines will be backed up by a website which will be accessible with a password available with the magazine subscription.

This marks a new and creative development in the provision of material for those working with children both on Sundays and mid-week and for those responsible for acts of worship for all ages.

Each week in the children’s section there will be a number of sections:

Bible Notes – comments on each of Lectionary texts
Set the scene – notes about preparing the worship space/meeting area
Getting started – opening activities for a variety of age groups
Use the Bible – ideas for looking at the Biblical texts with children
Be creative – art and craft, creative ideas
Work it out – discussion ideas
Pray it through – ideas and words for prayer
Music and other resources – details of songs and stories and other material that you might draw upon
Extra stories – to supplement the other material if you need it
An activity sheet – (photocopiable) to work on and colour if you have extra time or to take home

In addition of course, there will be the website material.

Roots is being launched at the Christian Resources Exhibition in May but as many people will not be able to be at that event, we are having a diocesan launch. This will be on 11th June and will feature a presentation, a time for questions and an opportunity to look at the new material and see how it can work for you. We hope that this will be a pleasant evening’s exploration and invite you to come and enjoy light refreshments while you look at the material.

PLEASE BOOK so that we know how many people we are catering for. As an incentive, the first booking received will be rewarded with a free Big Book – the newest of the National Society’s Encountering Christianity series, Change the World. The three next bookings will receive a Communion Cube. All will be given to their winners on the night of the presentation, so please do not book and then fail to turn up!

Bookings by post only, on the enclosed form please, to Roots Launch, The Resources Centre, Diocesan Office, Bishop Woodford House, Barton Road, ELY CB7 4DX.

Sharing Faith with Children at Home

an evening for parents and carers and those who support them
Tuesday 2nd July at 7.30pm in the Diocesan Office in Ely.

Many parents would like to share their Christian faith with their children, or even just introduce them to traditions which they feel to be their inheritance. Explore ideas on a summer evening in a hands on and unintimidating way, focussing particularly on opportunities for the summer holidays and the autumn. Gill Ambrose will introduce some possibilities from The ‘E’ Book: prayers and activities for faith at home and then we shall try to generate some more ideas of our own.

There is no charge for this event, but please book by email

All Saintstide 2002

It has become traditional to hold an All Saintstide children’s event – Saints Alive - in Ely on alternate years. This year the date is Saturday 2nd November and it will be an event with Roly Bain, the clown, who is running a clowning weekend at Bishop Woodford House. Book the date now. More details later.

Child Protection

There are lots of developments at the moment: please take a bit of time to read this.

The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB)
will provide police and other checks on all who apply to work, both as employees and volunteers, with children and vulnerable adults and its services came on line early in March. Its services will be available to churches, through a ‘Registered Body’. In our case this will be the Diocese. In the coming weeks, the Bishop’s Office and the Diocesan Child Protection Reference Group will send a pack of comprehensive information and advice to every parish and other organisations (for example the Mothers’ Union) to whom it is relevant.

Gill Ambrose

Child Protection Training

Child Protection training evenings this term will be led by David Waters and Gill Ambrose and will take place in Huntingdon and Wisbech. Please book so that we know how many people to expect.

HUNTINGDON AREA
Wednesday 29th May at 7.30pm in St Anne’s Church of England School, Godmanchester

WISBECH
Monday 10th June at 7.30pm in St Augustine’s Church Centre, Wisbech

Look out for . . .

Before and After Easter Activities and Ideas for Lent to Pentecost.
Debbie Trafton O’Neal: Augsburg Books £7.99

This book is full of things for families to do at home – enough to last for several seasons. There are Bible passages, craft ideas, recipes, prayers and lots of other information to add to your family celebrations. Much is done for Christmas, less for Easter in the way of family/group projects so this book fills a gap. Also it takes you beyond Easter day so giving the full picture of what we are celebrating.

The Easter Story
retold by Allia Zobel-Nolan: Candle Books £2.99

A lovely little board book for the very young.
The cut-out shape of the pages and the bright colours make this appealing, and its see through window adds to the fun for little people. A good book for your church book box for reading in the pew.

My Communion Book
Diana Murrie: National Soc £4.50

This is a child’s guide to Holy Communion and takes them through the service. It is designed to be used alongside whichever version of the Common Worship Holy Communion service is being used and initially it is a sharing book for adult and child to use together. It gives pointers for parents on ways to engage the child’s attention before and during the service with key texts in full or part to encourage the child to join with everyone else. It is in full colour with great illustrations.

The Communion Cube
£4.95

Another aid to the Communion service, this time for slightly younger children. A robust cube that introduces the elements of the service in a fun way and perfect stimulation for those ‘quieter’ moments at church.

Does Anybody Love Me?
Gillian Lobel: Lion Books £4.99

Most children ask this question at some time when they seem to be able to only cause trouble. Everything Charlie does seems to annoy the grownups so she and Panda decide to run away. When Grandpa gets ‘lost’ Charlie rescues him and takes him home. A story of love and forgiveness.

Leading Children
Penny Frank: St John’s Extension Studies £9.99

The generation gap between adults and children seems to be very much wider these days and parents find it a painful experience trying to pass on Christian values and lifestyles to their children. It is equally difficult for those who work with children in the local church. This is a workbook for all those leaders and is a course aimed at helping them examine their own gifts of leadership and grow them. It can be used by individuals, but is best when worked with others. Or it can be used as part of a local training system by an experienced leader to train others.

Every Child - a chance to choose
Penny Frank: CPAS £8.99

Children’s evangelism is a great challenge and this book is about giving all children the opportunity to discover Jesus and to respond to him. It examines the issues that are critical to children’s ministry today. There are also discussion starters and examples of good news that is happening up and down the country today.

Youth Work

'Toolkit’ event on Saturday March 2nd. The training day, held at Stanground College began at 8am with the setting up of the many bookstalls, resources and workshops for the event. By 9.30am, over half of the delegates had arrived and we weren’t due to start the event until 10am so the final preparations were somewhat hectic.

The event opened and this gave delegates the chance to fill a plastic file with free resources and magazines connected with youth work, a chance to browse the many books on sale and try out other resources on offer such as parachutes, fun inflatables and Spacehopper racers!

Following introductions and our main speaker from ‘Youth for Christ’, we made our way to the many workshops taking place throughout the day. These four workshop sessions of 1 hour each gave delegates the chance to think about certain aspects of Youth Ministry and Youth work. These ranged from practical ideas for use in youth clubs and groups, child protection issues, the ‘Connexions’ service and charities that work with, and for, young people such as Christian Aid. The day finished with a brief summing up and a short act of worship. The event closed at 4:30pm.

We were expecting 160 people to attend Toolkit but by 10:20am we had realised that many more had come to the event without prior booking. Fortunately, the event organisers had allowed for this and our workshop leaders accepted to accommodate for extra numbers but we were certainly not expecting an extra 60 people. This meant that some conference delegates had to receive their handouts and resource packs in the week following the event and lunch had to stretch somewhat to accommodate everybody. Hopefully, the refreshments available throughout the day helped to alleviate any hunger pains.

It is a pity that people didn’t book prior to the event because the workshops we cancelled, owing to lack of interest, may have been able to run after all. I know many people work on a close schedule but we had an on-line booking form on our website so may I encourage those interested in our training events to book if at all possible because your booking may decide if a workshop goes ahead or not. And it certainly would help to ensure the refreshments are adequate for numbers attending.

It was a very successful event. I am now thinking of holding smaller and more focussed Saturday workshops that allow more time for the subject matter. Toolkit was simply a giant ‘taster session’. Hopefully, those who attended met the experts, have read the books, tried out the resources and now would like to spend more time looking at some of the subject matter in more detail. Therefore keep an eye on the mailings and youth website because I intend to cluster 1-3 of the workshops together for a whole day – giving you the chance to spend longer looking at, and gaining more ‘hands on’ experience with, the subject matter.

Rave In The Nave 2002

Friday June 28th is the evening for this year’s ‘Rave in the Nave’. As with last year’s event, the Rave in the Nave will be linked to our on-going work in many of the Secondary Schools in the diocese. This year, two groups of young Christians (‘Activate’ and ‘Aorta’) will be going into secondary schools and colleges during the week of Rave in the Nave.

They will be sharing their faith using drama and music, leading assemblies and take part in lunchtime groups. They will also be distributing discount vouchers to some students for the Rave in the Nave event but only if they visit your school. If you came to last year’s event and enjoyed it and would like tickets - or would like your school to be visited by the young people, please contact me.

Last year over 750 people came to Rave in the Nave, it would be great to see similar, or more, numbers this year.

Church Army – ‘First Contact’

Each year young people between the ages of 18-30 are placed in churches and projects across the UK and Ireland to work alongside Church Army Evangelists. Most projects have a youth focus, from a townwide youth project to an outward-bound centre. Placements have also included church plants and residential work with the elderly.

Young people on the project receive on-going training and support at a national and local level. Many, but not all, who have been on the scheme are exploring full-time ministry and find this work sharpens their sense of vocation. Unlike many gap year projects, ‘First Contact’ is free and is open to young people from a variety of backgrounds. If you would like further information, please contact, Ruth Mills, Church Army Sheffield Centre, 50 Cavendish Street, Sheffield S3 7RZ.

‘Celebration of Youth’

19th July 2002 - Ely Cathedral

Youth organisations and youth groups from all over the Ely diocese are hereby invited to join us for an evening of Celebration for volunteer youth work.
This event, funded by our Bishops, the YMCA and the Cambridgeshire Youth Volunteer Service will give volunteer youth organisations from across Cambridgeshire the opportunity to display their groups activities, network with other youth groups, meet new friends and give thanks to God for our young people, for what they do for us and for the work we do together. The Cathedral is allowing us to erect the displays of our work from 1pm of that day and the event itself will begin at 6.30pm and end at 10pm.

The event will include a giant barbecue outside the Cathedral and a chance for your group to present music, drama and other activities on the Main Stage during the evening. A short act of worship will also take place led by Bishop John. If you know any volunteer youth group – including uniformed organisations who would like to be involved in this event, could you please pass on the names and contact details to the Project Manager (see next paragraph of this article).

More information about this event, including exciting competition details, booking display space or entering your group’s chance to take a slot on the ‘Main Stage’ can be gained from the Project Manager, Edward Green, 07989 606026

Please note that this event is not a replacement for ‘Rave in the Nave’ - it is totally different in nature. Your group will need to contact Ed if you wish to attend, book display space, enter the competition and offer your group’s part on the ‘Main Stage’. Please don’t just turn up on the night or we will run out of food - and not be able to feature your group in the opening parade!

Theme Park Trip (Summer 2002)
Christian Worship Day @ Alton Towers

As last year’s trip for Church youth groups to Pleasurewood Hills was such a success, I am planning a similar event in 2002. This year, we are exploring if we could use the exciting no1 venue of … Alton Towers! If they agree… and I can fix it… it would mean an early start for all of us but the Bishop’s Youth Chaplains, Revd John Armstrong and Revd Andrew Milton are keen to help me run the event if there is enough interest shown by your youth group. There would need to be enough interest shown by church youth groups to make it a worthwhile project, so could you ask your group if they would like to go and let me know. I would need around 150 young people to make it worthwhile. Contact me and let me know if your group is interested, please.

Willow Foundation

Offering Quality of Life, Quality of Time

The Willow Foundation supports seriously ill young people with life-limiting illness (between the ages of 16 and 40) with the provision of ‘special days’. Special days are exactly what they imply — days when these young people can escape the difficulties of their daily routine and enjoy doing something they have always wanted to do.

To date the Foundation has funded and organised nearly 100 ‘Special Days’. Days can be almost anything and are entirely of the applicant’s choosing. Some days have made dreams come true — for instance the thrill of a ride in a Ferrari or piloting a small aeroplane. Others have encouraged total indulgence at a health spa or on the Orient Express, while many have simply brought back a little normality, such as a family trip to the coast or tickets to the theatre. Whatever the choice, the Willow Foundation will arrange and fund the day, taking away the worry of logistics and practicalities and ensuring the beneficiary — and their partner, children or friend — enjoy a real break from the routine of illness and treatment.

Founded by TV sports presenter Bob Wilson and his wife Megs, the Foundation is a lasting memorial to their daughter Anna who died of cancer in 1998 aged 31. Throughout her illness, Anna loved to have special days to look forward to and the positive effect of the days benefited not only Anna but also her whole family. When Anna died it was this knowledge that convinced Megs and Bob that their experience could be channelled to help others.

Do you know a young adult between the age of 16 and 40 with a serious life-limiting illness — someone we can help? If so, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Extended Opening Hours
From April we are experimenting with keeping the Resources Centre open until 7pm on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month. We hope this will benefit those working during the day. Please come and browse. Don’t forget that apart from the extensive range of books to help with planning worship, children’s and youth work, research etc, there are videos, drama and a few musical scores, parachutes, giant puppets and a set of plain MASKS with different expressions which have many applications. There will also be sets of GODLY PLAY materials, and we are adding to the collection all the time. DO COME AND LOOK or give us a call to check if we have exactly what you want on 01353 652725. If you are travelling a long distance it is advisable to telephone first to check that the Centre is open.
